Beyond the Library Walls

Libraries aren't restricted to a building! We are active in the community every week. We do storytimes, run book clubs, make presentations about library services, and staff information tables at events.

Storytimes

The librarian is available for storytimes at your preschool or classroom.

- Are they little ones? Scarves, shakers, and songs will jazz up our half-hour storytime.
- A little older? Tell the librarian what theme you'd like, and she'll take it from there!
- For chapter book readers, the librarian is happy to read aloud a chapter (or two!) from the book you're reading in class.

Book Clubs

Currently, the Library offers a book club that meets monthly at the Lewiston Senior Center.

Presentations about the Library

The librarian is available to make a presentation about an aspect of the Youngstown Free Library at your organization or business meeting. Talks range from 30-45 minutes. Available presentations include:

- Libraries of the Past, Libraries Today!
- Libraries on the Front Line of Equality & Access
- Getting the Most from Your Local Library
- Discover & Explore the Digital Library
- Finding Your Next Great Read

Informational Tables

Are you having a job fair or an informational event? Depending on scheduling, the Library might be able to staff a table representing the Youngstown Free Library. We can answer questions about the Library and the Friends. We can even sign people up for library cards!

The Youngstown Free Library Board of Trustees meetings are held on the last Monday of the month, with the following exceptions. In May, the Board meets on the 3rd Monday of the month, and the Board has no meeting in December. Meetings take place at 7 pm in the Library Meeting Room on the second floor of the Red Brick Building. The public is always welcome to attend.
